Craft: Cute Halloween Candle Holders and Vase

I know it's Labor Day weekend this weekend, but I thought I'd kick off Halloween decorations a week early since I have a lot of cute ideas to show you.  So here's the first super easy craft idea I found online.

Save up your tomato sauce cans! These super cute Halloween table decorations are made by using the 8 oz. cans.  The vase uses a 28 oz Can of Whole or Pureed Tomatoes.

They're so easy and cheap to make.  Spread these out on your party table for some added style.  I found them on a new site I found called LivingLocurto.com created by blog owner Amy Locurto.  You must go there and see more of the amazing ideas she has on her site!

Super Organized Garage

Look at how organized this garage is!  I must say my garage looks nothing like this.  It's been neglected since we've moved into our house, as we have focused on getting the inside the way we want first.  I'm going to have to take some major notes from this picture, courtesy of Better Homes and Gardens.

Gender Reveal Baby Shower

This baby shower is such a cute idea!  I think it would be a lot of fun to have your family and friends guess which gender they think your baby is, and then have a great reveal during the party.  I'm not sure what gifts you would buy for them though?  Gender neutral stuff? Gift cards?

The amazing party above was decorated by Kim of The TomKat Studio for Pottery Barn Kids.  You can go to the site to get all the party details, how-to instructions, and free printables by clicking here.

Relaxing Outdoor Spaces

School is back in session.  Summer is winding down.  Living in Florida, however, the season for relaxing outside on the deck is coming up.  In summer it's so hot, you really don't have many days that are comfortable sitting outside, unless you get in the pool first.  Fall is the time of year I look forward to relaxing on my patio.  These outdoor spaces above are from House Beautiful.  Don't you feel instantly relaxed looking at these?

It's Not Too Late! Cute Idea for Your Kindergartner

I saw this idea on Giggles Galore to make your kindergartner a time capsule.  It's a wonderful idea to cherish your memories of this big step in your child's life.  The time capsule is started at the beginning of kindergarten and is to be opened upon graduating from high school.  My little guy has a few more years, but when it's time I want to create one for him.  Click here to see the full post.

September Calendar- Free Printable

Yesterday, I announced the addition of my facebook page that you can "like" for new posts, freebies, etc.  So today I decided I would kick off the new addition by giving away a free printable calendar file.  It's the size of your standard printer paper - 8 1/2 x 11.  You can print it on whatever paper you choose, but cardstock would be ideal.

I've mentioned my need to organize my office, and I don't even have a calendar.  So I am making a set for myself, and I thought I would share them with all of you.  This first one is nice and simple, as September is coming up fast.  I may try to get more creative in the future with the design.  I plan to share more of these if they are popular and you guys like them.

You should be able to download your calendar in 3 easy steps:
1. click the link below
2. click open with preview
3. hit the print button

White Room + Purple Flowers

Happy Friday everyone!  I just wanted to share this beautiful living room I saw on House Beautiful.  I love how the purple flowers just pop in the white/neutral color scheme. This beautiful living room is in a beach house in California.  To see all 24 pictures of the house, click here.  Have a great weekend!

How to Make Candy Melts

Does anyone make candy melts now?  My mom used to make them when my sister and I were growing up, and I still like to make them on occasion.  I not only enjoy it, but it brings back some happy memories.  Above are some ducks and hearts I made for my son Tyler's baby shower.

I also spotted these Easter ones with the lollipop sticks from Beth at Hungry Happenings.   Beth gives such clear, detailed instructions on how to make these- you can't go wrong!  Click here to go to Hungry Happenings and get the instructions.  While you're there, you must check out more of her desserts.  She has some amazing ideas!  I've found several I want to try.

Candy melts are really easy to make once you know how to make them. Wouldn't the lollipop ones be a cute party favor to give away?

You can buy an assortment of candy molds and melts at most craft stores like Michaels or Joanns. The molds are inexpensive, so if you're making a few batches, I would say to buy 2 molds per person so you can work continuously until finished.  If you make some, let me know how they turn out!

Love This! Organized Pots and Pans

As I try to find more organization tips for my office, I run across all sorts of amazing ideas for the whole house.  Like this storage cabinet in the kitchen.  Wouldn't this be perfect for storing your pots and pans?   I would love to have a cabinet like this!

I found this photo on pinterest by a user named OrganizingMadeFun Becky.  I've mentioned her before for other organizing tips. Check her pins out here.  As for this cabinet, it's from rev-a-shelf.com, but you can also get it on Amazon for less.

Super Cute Halloween Costumes

I've been seeing Halloween stuff all over the internet.  It seems a little early to me.  I'm still enjoying summer and not ready just yet to plan for the beginning of the holidays.  Do you plan this early?  Or am I just a late planner?

I did see these super cute kids costumes from Pottery Barn Kids and wanted to share them.  I've been a fan of Pottery Barn for a long time, but hadn't looked at PBKids section until right before my son was born last year. Aren't their costumes adorable?  Above are a few of my favorites, but go to their site to see more by clicking here.

Boy's Bedroom: Stylish Safari

I love this stylish safari bedroom from Project Nursery's site.  Tyler's room is currently decorated in a safari theme also.  His room has khaki colored walls with dark brown furniture, and light blue, light green and light yellow accents.

I love it, but when he grows out of his nursery, I'm not sure if he will still want a safari theme.  If he does, I would love to pull some inspiration from this room.  Even now, I would like to get a similar style of roman shades for his current room. Click here to see more of the details.

Surf's Up! Crafts

Are you planning a beach themed party and need some ideas of what crafts for the kids to do?  I found a few cute ideas online.

Surfboards: Crayola's website gives the idea of using cardboard or foam core to make surfboards.  Then you can put out markers, stickers, glitter, and other embellishments for the kids to put on them.  It also gives instructions on how to make a surfboard stand for them. Click here to go to Crayola's site for the full details.

Other ideas include:
  •  making Palm Trees,
  • Sand Art, including pictures with colored sand, and
  • my favorite- Seashell Creatures. For these you get seashells and things like wiggly eyes, pompoms and anything else you think might be cute to put on a "sea creature."
To see the details on these 3 click here to go to Shelley Frost's post on Yahoo! Voices.

*My cupcake toppers are now in 2 versions: printable diy files, and a completed package sent right to your home.  Click here to visit my store.

Party Details: Sock Monkey Birthday Party

door sign
cupcake toppers
food signs
thank you tags
birthday boy opening presents

As promised, here are the pictures of the items I created for the sock monkey birthday party my friend, Gina, had for her little boy.  I created a door sign, cupcake toppers, food signs, and thank you favor tags.  Then the last picture is of the handsome birthday boy, Ben, with his sock monkey shirt on... so cute!  His mom, Gina is the one with the blue shirt on.  We used to work together and she was always one of the nicest people there.  I'm so glad we became friends are keeping in touch still.  She's 38 weeks along with her second baby.  Boy is she going to have her hands very full soon!

*Oops!  I forgot to take a picture of the real party favor bags, so above is a picture of them without the boxes we put them on at the party. *   If I started the project sooner, I would've loved to have made a happy birthday banner for her as well.  And maybe invitations and thank you cards would also be good to have a completed package?

Well, the party was a lot of fun. My son, Tyler and I loved going!  Tyler had such a great time.  This was his first party where he was able to interact more.  He's getting so big! I think Tyler will want me to make decorations for many more parties.  :) He and Ben are pretty close in age so that was fun to see them interact and play together.

Thanks Gina for inviting us!  We had such a wonderful time!

A Day of Fun in the Sun and Making a Sandman

I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!  I sure did.  My mom, sister, Tyler and I all went to Ana Maria Island to have a fun day at the beach.  It was much needed too!

My mom and sister said we should make a sandman since it's going to be my mom's first winter without snow.  I don't think she will mind.  We tried to get Tyler's picture with the sandman- possibly for some Christmas cards this year.  He wasn't into pictures today though,  for some reason.  He typically lets us take a few.  There are some funny ones, but not really any that are Christmas card worthy.  Oh well, we had fun!

It was Tyler's second time at the beach and he wanted to go in the water a lot this time.  The first time we went, he was more into digging in the sand with his new shovel.   Today the waves were pretty small (which is usually the case on the gulf side of Florida), so whenever one would splash into Tyler, he would start laughing.  It was sooooooo cute!  I wish I would've gotten it on tape!

So this is why my post is late for today.  I am going to share more crafting ideas again this week, starting tomorrow.

Love This!: Casual Yet Elegant Dining Space

Isn't this great?  I found this dining room on House of Turquoise's blog.  I would love my dining area to look like this.  It's light and airy and beautiful.  It looks so relaxing to wake up to go into this room and sip on some of your favorite coffee.   Some of the bench seats in dining rooms look country and not my style.  But not this bench!  I love the high back with the pretty fabric/the colors/the seat cushion that also matches the chairs.  It's so perfect!

Surf's Up Cupcake Toppers

I showed you a sneak peak yesterday of the birthday party I'm creating cupcake toppers, thank you party favor tags, and maybe a few other items for.  Today I just wanted to share my other project I've been working on.  It's cupcake toppers from my Surf's Up collection.  And I now have them up on Etsy!  I have added both a printable DIY version and a completed package version that can be shipped to you.  Click here to visit my Etsy store.

Sneak Peek: My First Party

I've been working on a few different items for a friend for her son's first birthday party.  When I received her invitation, I was just starting to work on creating party decorations.  But I put together some cupcake toppers for her to see if she might want to use them.  I was so excited when she said she loved them and she wanted me to make them!  Once she said she wanted them, I also made a few more items for her party.  I wanted share with you this little sneak peek today.  I will post the other decorations after the party.
