Adventure's Out There: Disney's "UP" Inspired Birthday Party

In our house, we love Disney/Pixar's movie Up.  So when I saw this party on Pizzazzerie that was created by Dreamers Joy Events & Design, I instantly loved it.  There are so many amazing details that went into this party.

I love the map that they put up in the background and how it's bright turquoise color.  Then the orange details are great, keeping a fun and bright feeling to it all.  The balloons tied to the present is an easy way to decorate, and so perfect for this theme.  And could those party favor bags be any cuter?  Love this party!  If you want to see even more details for this party, click here.

HGTV Design Star: Blue and Gray Living Room in the Mansion

before picture

Beautiful living room

Did you watch this season's HGTV design star?  I only caught two episodes.  The living room above was in one of the episodes I watched.  If you're not familiar with Design Star, it's the living room in the mansion where the contestants stayed. They partnered up to decorate the rooms in the house for the first episode.

Danielle and her partner for this project, Luca, created this blue and gray combo.  Blue, being my favorite color, made me love this living room. I think the colors are beautiful and then it was appropriate how the furniture stayed all neutral.  My living room has a neutral color on the walls.  Not sure I would be so daring to do this in there, but I loved seeing this room.

Surf's Up Invitations- My First Invitations on Etsy!

I'm pretty excited, I have my first few items listed for sale on Etsy.  Here is the invitation above.  So far I also have party circles and thank you tags as well.  I am thinking about creating a Happy Birthday banner as well.  I will post more photos soon.

I was inspired by 3 people to start creating party supplies.  First of all my son, Tyler, for making me want to get great ideas for his parties.  Then I love The TomKat Studio and A Blissful Nest's work.  If you haven't been over to their blogs yet, you must!  They have some simply amazing parties for girls!

If you want to check out the party circles and thank you tags, click here to go to my Etsy shop.

Relaxing Outdoor Space

I was actually looking up fresh and stylish ways to get my office and a few other parts of the house a bit more organized.  It's not completely the way I want it yet.  Then I ran into this picture and wanted to share... A grown up clubhouse!  Well, actually on HGTV's website they call it a Garden Office or Studio.

Not sure I would use it as an office, but it does look like a  peaceful place to relax and unwind.  I'd probably go with another color too.  But not a bad idea if you have a lot of property.  I could see putting a tv and radio in there and doing crafts with the kids inside on a rainy day.

Cute and Delicious Idea: Push Up Pops

I saw this post late last night as I was trying to get some blog reading in while my little guy was sleeping.  I don't always have a lot of free time right now with a 16 month old running around.  I'm not sure where I first saw these, but they are on the site Pizzazzerie.

But this picture made me crave desserts.  I wished I could take them right off my computer screen immediately and eat them!  They look so cute too- what a great idea to make dessert look dressed up for the party table.

Then I saw these desserts are included in a book called Push-up Pops, which has many different recipes in it.  This is such a cute gift idea for a hostess gift or for anyone who loves to bake.  I am wanting a copy right now to make these cute desserts.

Yellow and Gray Sweet Bar

I have been working on a project with this exact color scheme. Mine is quite a bit different than this setup, but I really enjoyed these pictures, so I thought I'd share them with you.

I thought this sign was cute- it's a good idea to add in a cut out design. Then they added a few paper flowers in the backdrop with the same cutout details to tie it in.
I found this post on Tip Junkie's site. To see more details on this pretty party, click here.

Beautiful Weddings

I love looking at any type of decorating. Whether it is party planning, wedding planning or interior decorating. Looking at the pictures just brighten my day and give me inspiration for my projects.

Today I thought I would share a few beautiful weddings I found from local planners in the Tampa Bay area (where I currently live). I hope you enjoy them and they give you inspiration as well.

The first 2 pictures below are from Table 6 Productions in St. Petersburg, Florida. This first one has a beautiful setting with the cabanas and candlelight in the background. I love mood lighting for formal events and both of these first 2 pictures exemplify it well.I wouldn't have picked purple and pink for my own wedding, but I think the picture below is done well. I like the subtleness as if the light purple almost softens into the pink flowers on the table.

These next 2 are from Diamond Affair Weddings in Tampa. As you might imagine, beach weddings are quite common in Florida. It is a beautiful background for such a beautiful day. This first picture caught my eye though because of the deep purple flowers that line the isle. It seems like a fresh color choice for a beach wedding.
What can I say about this last one? It's very classic, simple, and elegant. I absolutely LOVE the vases with the beautiful flowers. This is one of my favorites of all time for a table arrangement. The green napkins give a subtle pop of color that blends with the flowers and greenery in the setting.

Cute Summer Picnic Plates

These cute picnic plates caught my eye because I'm planning a summer themed party with similar colors. They are from Martha Stewart's website.

It could be a fun craft for kids at a summer party.

Click here to get the templates for the wings for the seagull and claws for the lobster. On the site it says to use double sided tape and cut the claws and wings out of another plate. Cute idea!

Classy Mickey Mouse Parties

Ok, so I am not satisfied with my Mickey Mouse invitations by any means. I just get so excited when I start a new project that I can't help but share what I've done. I should probably hold my excitement until I get where I want to be. I have much more to learn. I am excited about my new projects though and will be sharing more soon. Next time they are going to be better!

Anyway, today I did want to share some classy Mickey Mouse parties I found online. Using character themes for parties can look a little cheesy sometimes. But these are really cute! They are the sort of parties I would envision.

I found this on the blog A Blissful Nest and it was originally posted on Julie Marie Portraits blog.

The invitations were cute too:

To see more party details click here.

Above is another Mickey Mouse party done in classic black and white colors. Very nice. I think the backdrop would also be nice done in red (with the Mickey Mouse ears in black still). To see more of the details click here.

I hope everyone is having a great Monday! It's raining here.

My Very First Invitations

My little boy LOVES Mickey Mouse. In fact, it's the only show he will watch right now. (which is okay with me because I don't like him watching too much tv).

So to try making invitations, I figured I would use Mickey in them. These are the first invitations I have ever made. It's definitely a learning process, so I guess I can only get better from here. I recently discovered how much I love making invitations and cards and creating beautiful/fun parties. I guess I'm more into it after having my son's first birthday party.

Which one do you like the best? They were fun to make, but now I'm going to start working on my own illustrations as well.

Spring Poem

So I love writing and doing anything creative. Apparently I always have. Below is a poem I wrote when I was only 11 years old. I don't think it's too bad for an 11 year old either. My mom and grandma kept copies of it all this time and they gave me one after my son was born.

Why did they bring it up again? Well, it's the weirdest/coolest thing. My son was born on February 28! The exact date on the poem. I thought it was really amazing so I printed it off in pretty colors and am making a mat to match so I can hang it up in his room. How's that for coincidence? I was sure surprised.

Striped Walls Worth the Time

When they are done right, striped walls can bring a refreshing, elegant, or fun look to your home. Here are a few favorites I found while searching online, plus if you want tips on how to paint striped walls for your own home, click here.

Painting stripes can be time consuming but well worth it (as I think is shown in the pictures below!). It wouldn't be as bad either if you just paint an accent wall.

Love this elegant and soothing bedroom. Found on Young House Love.
This living room area is amazing! The added silver stripes really make it unique and beautiful! From Jonthan Klunk.
I thought this was a cute example of stripes in the bathroom. Like that it's just a touch of it plus the black and white pictures add to the look. I saw this pinned on pinterest, not sure who originally posted it.
Super cute, bright and crisp design for a baby boy's room. Found on Decor Pad, who sites their source from Shelter Interior Design.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I did. Have a good Monday!

Make Your Own Roman Shades?

I love the look of roman shades in rooms. I think they'd be especially useful in my son's nursery and in our den/office area (it has only one window and it's a small room so my computer has to sit in front of it).

I've seen some plain colored ones at a good price at JCPenney, but it's really not what I'm looking for. I want custom made ones. I'm even thinking about making my own. I'm a little scared to, but I enjoy projects sometimes, so maybe I should. Hmmm. I will have to decide. They do look a little intimidating to make. Here is the post I found on Martha Stuart Everyday that explains how to make them: Make Your Own Roman Shades.

Someday, maybe I will have the time to make them. But for now I like the classic looking shades in the picture above from Pottery Barn Kids for my son's nursery. They come in 8 different color choices. The only thing that could make them even better is if they also had the choice to monogram them. Wouldn't that be super cute?

ZeppiPrints

Here's a really fun, super cute idea for nursery/toddler wall art. I found these on a site called Etsy.com. Maybe you've already heard of it? I just did a few weeks ago, but I could be a little behind on things happening on the internet.

If you don't know what Etsy is, it is a place where handmade items are sold. There are some very creative and amazing items on there, so if you haven't been there, you should take a look!

The prints above are sold at a store called ZeppiPrints. They have a lot of different patterns/colors to choose from. There are some sets that will also come with a personalized letter for your child's name. Check out all the cute pictures at the store by clicking here.
